Volunteer with the JAX Urban Book Festival

Help Bring JUBF27 to Life! 

Thank you for considering volunteering with the JAX Urban Book Festival (JUBF)! Your time, energy, and support play an important role in helping us create a welcoming, engaging, and successful experience for authors, readers, families, and community partners.

JUBF27 volunteers will have the opportunity to support two signature festival events:

• Aspiring Author Workshops – Friday, January 22, 2027
• JUBF Author Showcase – Saturday, January 23, 2027

Volunteer registration will be available through a separate sign-up form. Volunteers will be asked to select their preferred event date, shift, and assignment.

Volunteer Sign-Up Deadline: Friday, January 8, 2027

Location: Highlands Regional Public Library, 1826 Dunn Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32218

Volunteer Time: 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM 

Volunteers Needed: 4

Volunteer opportunities may include:

• Event Set-Up – Assist with setting up tables, chairs, materials, and event spaces.
• Registration Table – Welcome and check in attendees and help capture attendee information.
• Session Moderator – Assist presenters by helping identify audience members with questions during workshop sessions.
• Bag Stuffing – Help prepare festival attendee bags and materials.
• Event Photography/Social Media – Capture photos and video and assist with real-time social media coverage.

Parking: Complimentary parking is available at the library.

Location: James Weldon Johnson Park, 135 W Monroe Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202

Volunteer Time: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM 

Volunteers Needed: 22 

Shifts: Approximately 4-hour intervals

Volunteer opportunities may include:

• Registration/Information Table – Check in attendees and vendors, distribute attendee bags, and answer event-related questions.
• Kids Zone – Assist with setup, games, activities, and monitoring participation.
• JUBF Table – Help manage JUBF merchandise sales, including items such as T-shirts and mugs.
• Event Photography/Social Media – Capture photos and video and support real-time social media coverage throughout the festival.

• Staggered lunch breaks will be provided.
• Food will be available for purchase from an on-site food truck and nearby restaurants.
• Street parking is available near James Weldon Johnson Park.
